Is it true that you are what you eat? No muffin tops for me!

If you are reading this post on the Cybex Fitness Blog, chances are you already incorporate healthy eating habits into your diet.  You are intelligent enough to get regular exercise, both Cardio and Strength Training (using Cybex equipment often!).  You are disciplined enough to watch portions and keep your calories in check.

ALL excess calories contribute to weight gain, but did you know that certain TYPES of excess calories cause accumulation of fat around your abdomen—giving you the dreaded “spare tire?”

Not all excess weight is the same.  Excess weight around the abdominal region has been proven to contribute to heart attacks and heart disease.  Recent studies show a strong correlation between the typical American “burger and fries” diet and fat concentrated around the middle. This gives the old adage “stick to your ribs” a grim new meaning. 

Specifically, the culprits that cause unhealthy fat distribution are:  refined flour, refined sugar, hydrogenated oils (trans fats), high fructose corn syrup, and alcohol.  Limit consumption of white bread, potatoes, pasta, white rice, cakes, cookies, and donuts.  Keep alcohol consumption moderate—one glass of wine a day is fine. 

Instead, keep your Cybex-toned body healthy and humming with whole grains, copious quantities of vegetables, legumes, lean meat, soy, and low-fat dairy products.  For instance, opt for a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread with mustard rather than a slice of white flour slathered with oil, full-fat cheese, and factory-farmed pig parts (pepperoni pizza).  Don’t “waist” your calories on foods that will undo all of your exercise efforts.

as a fitness trainer,i prefer cybex products.i just came from the gym after using the latest cybex treadmill myself.i trust cybex products & use them ,my clients as well at the gym & at their home,from about 12 years. i only trust cybex machines .i tell everybody:go a head guys,buy cybex or use one.

Well said, and I couldn't agree more! The pace of life these days makes it so tempting to reach for the quick and easy option, but those habits can be changed with conscious effort. If we give our bodies the nutrition that will nourish and rebuild versus artificial substances that debilitate and destroy, we eventually will learn to accept nothing less!
