What’s on www.ChooseMyPlate.gov, that is. If you are not already familiar with the United States Department of Agriculture’s website for guidance on healthful eating, now is an opportune time to check out this site.
First lady Michelle Obama just unveiled a plan in partnership with 5 media companies that control 18 cooking websites. The plan identifies which recipes align with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s healthy eating guidelines. The recipes will have the MyPlate icon displayed at the top and serve as a visual reminder of how to fill your plate with vegetables, fruits, lean protein, and whole grains.
The publications participating in the MyPlate program include:
- Better Homes & Gardens (bhg.com)
- Everyday With Rachel Ray (rachaelraymag.com)
In addition, 3,000+ recipes will be featured on a new Pinterest page: pinterest.com/MyPlateRecipes.
Also remember to check out Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign website at www.letsmove.gov for tips, insight, and motivation to keep kids active and healthy. No matter what your political affiliation, we all want our kids to be lean, fit, and empowered.
