Sugar Fix? Bloomberg proposes portion control.
NEW YORK (5/31/12) - Mayor Michael Bloomberg makes bold move to control sugar consumption in the Big Apple. In the plan released earlier today he calls for a municipal wide ban of large sugary drinks of more than 16oz. The plan is reportedly a response to studies completed by city health organizations showing that 58 percent of New York City adults and nearly 40 percent of city public school students are obese or overweight.
