Squats are an excellent exercise to develop strength, power, and endurance in the muscles of the legs. Specifically, squats will work the low back, glutes, hamstrings, quads, and calves. By performing the exercise with dumbbells, there is also added demand to the shoulders and arms to stabilize the weights during the movement.
- Focus on a point in space down and behind you.
- Then try to move your behind to that point, while keeping your weight centered in your feet.
- To return, push through the center of your foot, and return to standing upright while stabilizing the dumbbells by your shoulders.
To increase the challenge, increase the weight of the dumbbells.
