Toe Taps focus on building strength and endurance of the calf muscles, but also challenge numerous other muscles of the ankle and intrinsic muscles of the foot. This is a good exercise to build balance and coordination.
- Start barefoot, and stand up on your toes of both feet with one leg in front and the other behind you.
- Then, shift all of your weight to the back foot by pushing down and forward with the front foot until it is off the ground.
- Return to the starting position, while remaining up on the toes of both feet.
- Alternate the right and left foot, such that now the opposite foot is behind you, then perform the exercise again.
If necessary, perform near a wall for additional support.
