Learn Evolve Lead 2017

Led by the UK Life Fitness team, the one-day conference was hosted at the De Vere East Midlands Conference Centre onsite at the University of Nottingham. The event brought together current and prospective customers from across Life Fitness’ portfolio of brands for the chance to network and learn from industry experts, who discussed some of the key developments and opportunities that exist within the health and fitness industry.

Amongst the speakers was Leon Rudge, director – digital experience at Life Fitness, who presented his latest white paper, ‘Thriving in a Digital Age’, which highlights ways in which suppliers can capitalise on advances in digital technology. Kristian Merritt, head of IT services at David Lloyd Leisure, also shared his expertise and experience in digital technology through a case study about the gym chain’s new mobile app.

Delegates were also given a valuable insight into the work of Dr Paul Bedford, founder of the Retention Guru, who profiled retention improvement strategies and shared examples from over 20 years in the fitness industry.

Marcus Spain, assistant director of sport and physical education at the University of Nottingham, concluded the day with a unique insight into the strategic aims of the David Ross Sports Village, the new £40m sports centre which was opened by the University in October 2016.

Delegates were then invited on a tour of the new facility, which is home to two fitness suites and more than 200 pieces of Life Fitness equipment.

Commenting on the event, Danny Oliver, Life Fitness UK Country Manager, said: “The aim of Learn Evolve Lead is to give something back to our customers – the fitness industry is more competitive than ever and gyms need to be maximising all areas of their business to get ahead in a marketplace that’s showing no signs of slowing down.

“We’re lucky enough to work with experts from across the health and fitness industry and by hosting events like Learn Evolve Lead, we can bring together customers company-wide and share in ideas, experiences and best practice to support them in their wider business aims and objectives.”
